Not Like the Novel - But Okay
This film pulls from Kubrick's 1980 'The Shining' in order to connect the two films. Therefore, 'Doctor Sleep' film isn't like the book as Kurbrick's 'The Shining' makes changes from the novel.
I wasn't too fond of this story nor the film. I was hoping the story was more focused on Danny and his inner 'demons' than it is.
Really the novel and the the film focus' on a girl named Abra who has the shine more than Danny ever did and Rose the Hat along with her gang of goons called the True Knot. Abra makes friends with Danny and together they put an end to Rose and True Knot. Personally Hat Girl (Rose) irks me.
True Knot are a group of quasi-immortals who feed on the 'steam' of those that 'shine' as they die. They want Abra but has never known about Danny.
This story is nothing like The Shining. It's focus is on these semi-immortals and only loosely connected to The Shining.
Ending was a nod to King's 'The Stand'.
It's an okay film - but I can't call this a sequel to The Shining.
