Earthquake (1974)

Very Good Disaster Film

The film has a star cast: Charlton Heston, George Kennedy, Ava Gardner, Lorne Greene, among the others. Well acted, and I wouldn't expect less out of this amazing cast. Special effects are super for the 70s - I really believed I was watching an actual large earthquake happening on film.

The first hour of the film is a lot of character development so we have feelings for them. It's also of a couple of very small earthquakes and a young seismologist still in college that predicts a 7+ earthquake later that day or the very next day. He has a time trying to convince others that it's going to happen, then when he does it's an argument to alert the civilians in the city or not for fear of panic.

The second hour of the film is when the big one hits and it's total chaos but things become more grim when the aftershocks hit. Who will survive the Earthquake?!

Well worth my time watching - recommended!

8.5/10
