The House of the Seven Gables (1940)

Good Condensed Version of Hawthorn's Tale

While not perfectly true to the novel, House of the Seven Gables is a good movie to watch alone on a late evening - it does keep you on your toes.  Enjoyable if you like melodramas and thrillers.
