Grace Bros. on the Silver Screen
Are You Being Served? – The Movie (1977) takes the familiar Grace Brothers department store staff out of their usual London setting and plops them into a sunny, chaotic holiday abroad.
The gist: the store is closing for renovations, and the employees are sent together on a group vacation to a foreign resort. Naturally, their personalities, class quirks, and misunderstandings cause the trip to turn into a series of comedic mishaps, culture clashes, and absurd situations — all in the same cheeky, innuendo-filled spirit as the TV series.
It’s essentially the Are You Being Served? gang on location, with bigger sets, brighter colors, and even more opportunities for things to go delightfully wrong.
