From Beyond the Grave (1974)

Not the Best of Amicus

1st: The Gatecrasher. Edward Charlton (David Warner) buys an antique mirror for a cheap thinking he outwitted the shop owner. Edward gets more than he bargained for.

2nd: An Act of Kindness. Christopher Lowe (Ian Bannen) is a man in a loveless marriage. Lowe befriends a old soldier, Jim Underwood (Donald Pleasence). When Lowe steals a metal things turn grim for him.

3rd: The Elemental. Reggie Warren (Ian Carmichael), a businessman, switches price tags on a snuffbox and buys it cheaper from the store owner. On the train home , a psychic, Madame Orloff (Margaret Leighton) who tells him he has an elemental on his shoulder. Things get wild when Madame Orloff is invited over by Mr. Warren to rid himself of the elemental.

4th: The Door. William Seaton (Ian Ogilvy) is a writer who buys an ornate door from the proprietor at a reduced price. Seaton brings it home, installs the door and when he opens it things behind the door are strange.

This film was not the greatest from Amicus but is still an entertaining anthology. 4 stories in all. I liked the 4th story the best and the ending closing on Peter Cushing. The 3rd story is rather comical while the 1st and 2nd stories are just okay.

6/10.
