Theatre of Blood (1973)

Wicked Horror Humor

This is actually a really good Vincent Price comedy-horror. Price plays Edward Lionheart - a Shakespearean actor who's acting career was destroyed by critics. Lionheart and his small band of friends/fans are out to get revenge on those that he feels that killed his stardom.  Each murder is Shakespearean styled and quite creative.

It's a good horror film liberally splashed with black comedy - some very funny dialogue at times. The most fun of the film is seeing Price dressed differently for each Shakespearean murder - some of the best and funniest costumes I've seen him wear are in this film.

This a good film for anytime - really makes a great afternoon movie. Worth watching if you enjoy Vincent Price or strange comedy-horror films.

8/10
