The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960)

Great Version of the Story

For me, this is a wonderful version of the story of Jekyll and Hyde. It has a sinister yet romantic air to it. We have a very handsome and distinguished Mr. Hyde instead of one that looks monstrous (more in the vein of but not exactly like the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941) film with Spencer Tracy). Don't let this Mr. Hyde (Paul Massie) fool you with his almost charming ways and pretty face - he is a pig towards women and there is a hidden sinisterism behind the face - a murderer.

Christopher Lee as Paul Allen is outstanding... what an interesting character - just as interesting as Massie's Jekyll & Hyde.

This film cannot top the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) with Fredric March but it is close behind it.

8.5/10
