The Strange Door (1951)

An Underrated Horror-Thriller

A really nice underrated horror-thriller. I've just seen the film for the first time (that I can recall) and I found the film really good.

Charles Laughton's performance as Sire Alain de Maletroit was unbelievably wonderful. An Oscar performance? Maybe - but definitely good. He was very convincing as the "madman" Maletroit.

Boris Karloff's supporting role as Voltan was enhancing to the film... his part was eerie yet Voltan is one of the "good guys".

Over all the film is worth watching. The story is interesting and the casting along with the acting is really good. The costuming and sets are are gorgeous - I would love to see both in colour in particular the wedding scene!

9/10
